Near-Real Time Air Quality Rapid Forecast System (NRT-AQRFS)

NRT-AQRFS provides an hourly near-real time air quality forecast for Thailand and Lower Mekong Subregion (LMS). A Weather Research and Forecasting model coupled with Chemistry (WRF-Chem), developed in a collaborative effort among the community leaded by NOAA/ESRL scientists, was applied at grid resolution of 30km x 30km with a 3-day forecast. The modeling system was configured following tools and guidances in ACOM/UCAR. Preliminary, NRT-AQRFS is an effort to predict ambient air quality during the haze episodes in Bangkok Metropolitan Region (BMR) and Northern Thailand. The system is a part of my PhD research in Environmental Engineering and Management (EEM), Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), Thailand. The purpose of this system is purely for research and development. This SHOULD NOT BE TREATED AS OFFICIAL forecast. Users should consider modeling uncertainty and use at your own risk.

Product Description

NRT-AQRFS forecasts next-day air quality based on a current emission scenario. Initially, NRT-AQRFS provides a beta version of hourly forecasted PM2.5 concentration at near-surface in LMS domain with resolution of 30km distance. The PM2.5 concentration is plotted in the unit of microgram per cubic meter (µg/m³) at time in UTC (+7hr for Bangkok Time Zone). For the time being, the forecasted data is updated every other day at 1 PM, and plots of other air pollutant concentrations with higher resolution will be provided soon. Again, the model outputs are NOT OFFICIAL. PLEASE USE AT YOUR OWN RISK.
